The Science of Mind is Ernest Holmes’s foundational statement of Religious Science, New Thought spirituality, and the creative power of thought in shaping human experience. Holmes presents a system of spiritual philosophy built around the unity of mind, the presence of divine intelligence, and the practical use of prayer, affirmation, meditation, and directed thought. The book teaches that spiritual law is not remote or abstract, but active in consciousness, health, work, prosperity, relationships, and the inner life of the individual.

First published in 1926, The Science of Mind became one of the central texts of the New Thought movement and the basis for Religious Science. Holmes draws from Christianity, metaphysics, philosophy, psychology, and practical spiritual teaching to argue that thought, belief, and spiritual understanding influence the conditions of life. Readers interested in New Thought, Religious Science, metaphysical Christianity, spiritual healing, mind power, prosperity consciousness, affirmative prayer, and classic self-help spirituality will find here one of the major twentieth-century works in the field.

Ernest Holmes was an American New Thought writer, teacher, lecturer, and founder of the Religious Science movement, later associated with the Centers for Spiritual Living. Born in Maine in 1887, Holmes studied widely in philosophy, religion, metaphysics, psychology, and the healing movements of his time, drawing on influences that included Christian Science, Divine Science, Transcendentalism, and broader New Thought teachings. His writing sought to make spiritual law practical, teaching that the individual mind participates in a larger creative Mind and that disciplined spiritual understanding can transform experience. In The Science of Mind, Holmes gave his movement its central text and helped shape one of the lasting streams of American metaphysical religion.
