In 2055, high school senior David Grimes logs into the hottest immersive MMORPG, Lands of Legend / Realms of Forgotten Lore (LOL/ROFL). He's eager to rack up experience, level up, and escape his all-too-ordinary life. The blogosphere is ablaze with buzz about the game’s rich setting in Tang dynasty China.

But David soon discovers there’s much more to Realms than at first meets the eye. This is no mere game. It has plans for David—plans that will bridge the virtual world and intrude on his own humdrum reality.

Join David (and his trusty TreadMaster 2000) as he’s thrust into the journey of a lifetime, where the line between real and virtual blurs, secrets lurk behind every quest, and an ancient legacy waits to be uncovered. Guided by a mysterious mentor, he’ll gain new allies, solve perplexing puzzles, and fight for his virtual life amid a vibrant tapestry of ancient Eastern tradition.
