Iltutmish's childhood was very different from the usual, marked by dramatic turns of events that plunged him from a privileged upbringing to the harsh realities of slavery.
Iltutmish was born into a prosperous family of the Ilbari Turkic tribe. His father, Ilam Khan, was a prominent leader of the tribe. According to historical accounts such as Minhaj-i-Siraj's Tabaqat-i-Nasiri, Iltutmish was exceptionally handsome and intelligent as a young boy, showing promising qualities.
Unfortunately, his remarkable qualities aroused jealousy among his half-brothers. Driven by this jealousy, they sold him deceitfully to a slave trader at a horse show when he was just a child. This narrative bears a strong resemblance to the Quranic story of Yusuf, who was similarly sold into slavery by his jealous brothers.
As a young boy, Iltutmish was taken to Bukhara, a major cultural and religious centre. There, he was sold again to the local Sadar-i-Jahan official in charge of religious affairs and endowments. Minhaj's account suggests that this family treated him well.
Anecdotes from his childhood also point to his early interest in religious mysticism. One story tells how Iltutmish was crying after losing money given to him by a family member of the Sadar-i-Jahan to buy grapes, when a darvesh Sufi religious leader, noticed him. The darvesh bought him grapes in exchange for Iltutmish's promise that he would treat religious devotees and ascetics well when he became powerful. Some sources, such as Isami's writings, suggest that Iltutmish may have also spent time in Baghdad, where he is said to have met notable Sufi mystics such as Shahab al-Din Abu Hafs Umar Suhrawardi and Auhaduddin Kermani.
He was later sold to a merchant named Haji of Bukhara, who then sold him to Jamaluddin Muhammad Chust Kaba. Jamaluddin brought him to Ghazni. The fame of this intelligent and handsome slave reached the Ghurid king Muizzuddin Muhammad Ghori, who offered a significant sum of one thousand gold coins for Iltutmish and another slave. When Jamaluddin refused, the king banned the sale of these particular slaves in Ghazni. Despite the ban, Iltutmish eventually came to Delhi, where he was purchased by Qutb ud-Din Aibak, a Ghurid slave-commander who later became the first Sultan of Delhi. This was a significant moment in Iltutmish's life, as he became "the slave of a slave". Despite the traumatic experience of being sold into slavery, Iltutmish's inherent intelligence, courage, and strong character allowed him to rise in the ranks. He quickly rose to prominence in Aibak's service, eventually becoming governor of Badaun and marrying Aibak's daughter. eventually became one of the most important rulers of the Delhi Sultanate and achieved salvation from debt.
Iltutmish looted and destroyed the Mahakal temple in Ujjain. Then a Brahmin priest cursed him. Iltutmish's life, family and empire ended due to this curse. A boy named Sameer repeatedly had dreams of Shiva and went to a doctor for past life therapy to find out the reason for this. In past life therapy, it was found that he was Iltutmish in his previous life. He had this dream in this life due to the priest's curse. This is Iltutmish's reincarnation.
This is the 'Rinanubandhan' of his previous life. He went to Ujjain and performed Veer Sadhana to get rid of this debt. He stayed at the Ujjain Simhastha Kumbh Mela. Performed Bhasma Aarti of Mahakaal. Met the people killed by Iltutmish and asked for forgiveness. Understood Islam and began to believe in Sanatan Dharma. Got freed from the curse. Met Asmita due to soul agreement and got married.
