Growing up listening to the stories of their grandfather’s adventure, Oli’s grandsons dream of leaving Elkader and experience the excitement of the 19th century frontier. Revelations from their grandmother add a dynamic unanticipated by the cousins. The boys left knowing that they might never return to the home and life they had always known.

Raised on a farm in upper Michigan, the author spent his summers and winters wandering the surrounding forests. The adventures he enjoyed were only limited by his imagination. His life’s work took him across the United States and Canada, always hungry to see new places. Retirement finally offers him the time to share his experiences and stories, bringing them to life in the characters of his books.
