Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

Hardcover. Bound in full leather, but front cover detached and spine chipping. This appears to be an early 19th century binding on 17th century text block. It could use a new binding. Bookplate on inside front cover with date 1909 and the name Asa P. French. Old Magg's Brother book catalogue clipping tipped to free endpaper with description of this book. Text block nice and tight. Large engraving on title page. Title page is dated 1653. 264 pages + index. Illustrated with several plates (within the text). A long section of translations of Anglo-Saxon words. First published in 1605 in Antwerp and then published in England in 1628. I can also find copies from 1673, but none of this particular 1653 copy. Margins are a bit tight at top and bottom, but never affecting text. Measures 4.5 x 6.75 inches. Please email with questions or to request photos. If you see a photo beside this listing, please be aware that its an ABE Stock Photo (whatever that is) and not a photo of this book.

In warmer months we stay open until 9 most nights, but you might want to call ahead. (540) 373-6148 Shipping rates are for Media Mail, in a padded envelope - WE DO NOT ADD TRACKING UNLESS THE CUSTOMER REQUESTS IT AND PAYS FOR IT - we have been selling books online for more than 20 years & find that the USPO delivers 99.99% of packages quickly and safely, without any need for a tracking number. We trust them & we hope you will too. If you need tracking, please consider PRIORITY SHIPPING. We ship orders valued at more than $50 in a box, at no additional charge. Priority mailing is for a Flat-Rate envelope, with tracking included. If the book does not fit into a flat rate envelope, we will likely need to request extra shipping costs from you, in order to put it in a box. We only charge the actual amount of shipping, so we hope you'll understand that it's just a matter of getting the book to you without taking a loss on it -- shipping is a service we happily offer without a 'handling' charge.... but we can't afford to charge you less than the cost of the stamps!…
