Inhaltsangabe: These six shorter texts span the principal years of Samuel
Beckett's work after the worldwide success of `Waiting for Godot' and the
`Molloy' trilogy. `From an Abandoned Work' is the beginning of an
unfinished novel, but nevertheless complete in itself, a monologue of one
of the author's articulate but unmotivated dropouts. The others all
appeared in individual volumes and were first collected in 1978. In spite
of their brevity, these are major works in the Beckett canon, and have
proved to be particularly potent when delivered publicly or broadcast.
This is part of a series of twelve short volumes brought out
ten years after the great writer's death, containing the best of the
shorter writing, ranging from early work to his final writings. All have
covers with the photographs of Samuel Beckett taken by the Irish
photographer John Minihan, which, catching the author in different moods,
have become classics on their own.
