The Relationship: Knowing Jesus Beyond Religion

A Spiritual Biography by Coach David Angeron

You can know the stories.
You can follow the rules.
You can master the routines.
And still miss the relationship.

The Relationship: Knowing Jesus Beyond Religion is more than a devotional. It is a spiritual biography of a high-achieving competitor who discovered that success cannot substitute for intimacy with Christ.

Coach David Angeron shares his deeply personal journey of growing up immersed in faith, mastering religious structure, and pursuing excellence in athletics, leadership, and career achievement—only to realize that knowing about Jesus is not the same as truly knowing Him.

Trained in discipline, competition, and performance, he learned how to win publicly while quietly drifting spiritually. As pressure mounted and ambition accelerated, faith became routine instead of relationship. What followed was a season of brokenness that revealed a truth years of religious activity had never taught him:

Real transformation begins in private, daily intimacy with Jesus.

Through powerful storytelling, leadership insight, and vulnerable reflection, this book reveals:

• A faith shaped by structure but starved for connection

• The hidden spiritual cost of achievement-driven living

• The collapse that forced honesty before God

• The rediscovery of private prayer and patient trust

• The shift from adrenaline-fueled ambition to spiritual alignment

• The strengthening of calling through daily relationship

This is not a formula.
It’s a testimony.

Not about religious performance.
But about spiritual presence.

For athletes, coaches, leaders, and men who have built disciplined lives yet crave deeper intimacy with Christ, The Relationship offers more than instruction—it offers an invitation.

An invitation to move beyond routine religion and into a real, ongoing walk with Jesus.

Because spiritual maturity isn’t built in public moments.
It’s formed in private relationship.

And that difference changes everything.
