This is a collection of regulations, edicts, declarations, and decrees concerning trade, the administration of justice, and the policing of the French colonies in America, as well as the treatment of indentured servants. It includes the "Code Noir" (Black Code) and an addendum to that code.

Originally published in 1765, this compilation offers invaluable insight into the legal and economic structures governing France's colonial territories and the lives of those who lived and worked within them. The presence of the "Code Noir", which regulated the treatment of enslaved Africans, underscores the complex and often brutal realities of colonial life. This historical document provides researchers and historians with a primary source for understanding the administration, commerce, and social dynamics of the French colonial empire.
