Following on from the success of Tolkien’s World, this new collection of stunning illustrations inspired by the work of J R R Tolkien promises to be as beautiful as its predecessor.

The volume includes paintings by artists from all over the world, both famous and unknown ― Alan Lee, renowned for his atmospheric interpretations of folklore and legend, and of course for his stunning illustrations for The Lord of the Rings; John Howe’s powerful representations of the landscapes and peoples of Middle-earth; Ted Nasmith’s classically accurate and dramatic pictures; and Inger Edelfeldt’s beautiful and unusual illustrations.

Realms of Tolkien also includes many gifted amateur artists from all around the globe, demonstrating the wealth and variety of artwork that the writings of J R R Tolkien have inspired. Also featured in this volume is the Dutch artist Cor Blok, whose work was much admired by Tolkien himself.

Alan Lee has illustrated The Lord of the Rings and is currently working on the illustration of The Hobbit. John Howe has illustrated many Tolkien covers, including the whole series of ‘The History of Middle-earth’. Ted Nasmith and Inger Idelfeldt have both produced illustrations for Tolkien Calendars, posters and book covers.
