Dreamland is the thi first movement of the trilogy Pax Dominica. A Refusal to Mourn. The occupation is complete. The grid is lit. Now comes the revolt against the light itself. Phase-locked signals run through every dream. The Knoutogdreamic Empire rules the illuminated dream-world from its 4400 oil-burning lamps, spy cameras, and geo-phones to the rest. This is the book of sedition against illumination. From the child scrounging torpedoes along the railroad tracks and shooting insulators from electric poles, to the smashing of streetlamps in protest, the work enacts the last possible act: refusal to consent. The dream itself has become the prison. The only remaining gesture is to strike at the lamps that keep it under the corral knout. There is no victory offered. No organized resistance. No hope of reversal. Only the unrelenting naming of the illuminated empire and the refusal to pretend the dream is still free.Polyphonic, prophetic, and unrelieved, Dreamland completes the arc begun in New Philadelphia and mapped in Trojan White Horse: the bull-ship has landed, the centaur is inside the gates, and now the dream is placed under the whip.Jerusalem Refused
