Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: Primnath Gooptar is a writer/biographer, social worker, cultural promoter, former school principal and Hindi film enthusiast and has presented several papers at various fora including UTT, UWI, University of Warwick, Indira Gandhi Centre for the Arts and at Diaspora conferences in Trinidad, St. Vincent, Suriname and Mauritius. He has coauthored Ranjit Kumar: Bridging the East and the West with Bridgette Brereton. Another of his books–Bala Joban: the First Indian Movie in Trinidad was published in May 2014 and launched that same month at the NCIC while his third book The Impact of Indian Movies on East Indian identity in Trinidad was published in August 2014. Gooptar’s fourth book Cultural Persisitence: 50 Years of NCIC was published in 2014 by the NCIC.His most recent book, The Ramleela of Sangre Grande was published in 2015. Primnath Gooptar holds a PhD in Cultural Studies (UTT) and has researched several aspects of South East Asian Culture in the Caribbean including the influence of Indian films in Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname and Maurtius..
