Coperte coeve in cartone rigido con tasselli cartacei con titoli a stampa ai dorsi. Buoni esemplari in barbe. Alcune figure nel testo e cinque tavole fuori testo, due delle quali ripiegate al primo volume, raffiguranti "Plans of the Walls, the Gates and the Seven Hills of Rome", "Plan of the Roman Forum"; "Plan of the Circus Maximus", "Pompey's Theatre", "Portico of Octavia". Assai rara edizione originale di un'ampia testimonianza sulle rovine archeologiche, antiche e medioevali, e sulla vita quotidiana nella Roma del primo quarto del XIX secolo. Ne è autrice la scrittrice Charlotte Anne Waldie (1788-1859), moglie del banchiere Stephen Eaton. Il testo, molto dettagliato, è articolato in una serie di lettere scritte durante un soggiorno a Roma negli anni tra il 1817 e il 1818.
