She's the king's mild-mannered secretary. He's the impulsive younger prince with something to prove. With twelve impossible tasks ahead of them, the most difficult one might just be keeping their hearts intact. Iona Gemara is quite fond of her job. After all, there aren't many employment opportunities that would allow her to indulge in her love of clearly marked schedules, vigorous note-taking, and historical research. Well, there are, but most wouldn't pay for the specialized physicians she desperately needs. As the personal secretary to King Zeddicus of Helyos, she gets all of it...as well as a front-row seat to whatever trouble Prince Herrick is getting himself into. Herrick is tired of living in his brother's shadow, and he's willing to do just about anything to make a name for himself. After his latest impulsive decision gone wrong, King Zeddicus offers him a chance for redemption. Seeing a chance to finally prove his greatness, Herrick jumps at the opportunity. It's just twelve tasks; how hard could it be? If only the boring secretary didn't have to come along... "A Quest for Greatness," a retelling of The Twelve Trials of Hercules, is a standalone no-spice novella, complete with tropes like opposite attract, forced proximity, and he falls first. It is the second installment of the "Lives of Legend" series, a collection of eight retellings of Greek myths where the tragedies become happily ever afters. Each book is written by a different author so it can be enjoyed in any order. The proceeds from this series are donated to the Human Coalition to provide for mothers facing crisis pregnancies.
