Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-reigning monarch of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. Her reign began in1952 and ended with her death in September 2022, at the age of 96. During her reign, Queen Elizabeth brought dignity, intelligence and courage to her role as Queen. Learn about her life as a monarch, but also as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and lover of horses and corgis. Level 2 readers are aimed at children who are becoming more confident at reading on their own. Simple sentences and informative captions help readers understand new ideas, while key words increase readers' vocabulary. This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada.

Leslie spent twenty-five years teaching Canadian and British history with the BC Open University. When she retired from teaching, she became a bookseller in Victoria and then in Vancouver with Vancouver Kidsbooks, where she still works. In addition, she has co-written two children's picture books about Canadian history with Sarah Harvey. Any spare time is spent knitting, reading, and visiting her two grandsons.
