Will your pets go to Heaven? Are prayers answered? Where did the Greek pantheon of gods come from? Who wrote the Bible? What is the soul? What did Jesus look like? Should people believe in God "just in case"? How can revelations and prophecies be explained? Why do people say "God bless you" when someone sneezes? Is Immortality attainable? What is the nature of morality? These and hundreds of other fascinating questions are objectively examined and answered. This entertaining and informative look at the origins of religion and practice of faith is part History book, part Philosophical treatise and most of all an exercise in comparative religion which challenges the reader to judge all faiths through a single, unbiased lens. The author was raised as a Catholic and then a Protestant in a heavily Jewish neighborhood and later spent over twenty years in the military during which time he traveled the world and came into contact with a wide variety of previously unfamiliar faiths and worldviews from Islam and Hinduism to Scientology and Mormonism, each of which claims to possess the "truth," and that background makes him uniquely qualified to comment on the subject of religion. Before getting into specific discussions on a broad spectrum of topics such as Prayer, Morality, Revelation, Prophecy, Death, Heaven and Near Death Experiences the author lays the groundwork by explaining the nature of logical fallacies, clearly defining related terminology and proactively addressing common apologetics and cliches. Though not intended as a science textbook, subjects germane to the discussion which cannot be ignored such as Abiogenesis, Evolution and Cosmology are touched on as well. Are your beliefs, whatever they may be, true? Do you care? If so, read Pulpit Fiction and find out the answers. You may discover that you CAN handle the truth!"
