Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: E. M. Delafield was the nom de plume of Edmée Elizabeth Monica de la Pasture Dashwood (1890-1943), who produced more than forty volumes of fiction, plays, and essays over twenty-six years in the 1920s and '30s. However, her Provincial Lady series, first published for the weekly magazine Time and Tide, has proven to be her most celebrated work.
