Irish illustrator Thomson was best known for his pen-and-ink illustrations of works by authors including Austen, Charles Dickens and J. M. Three small areas of fraying resulting in losses of cloth to front joint. Head of rear joint starting, with board just a touch tender. Shelf wear to back strip tail, with rubbing to rear board. Front hinge a touch strained and slightly tender. Inscription to half title. Internally, binding lightly strained throughout.
