The Preaching of Islam: A History of the Propagation of the Muslim Faith is a historical exploration of the spread of Islam, focusing on the methods and efforts behind its global reach. The book highlights the peaceful nature of Islamic missionary work, contrasting it with common misconceptions of coercion. The author traces the origins of this missionary zeal, rooted in the teachings of Muhammad and the Quran, which call for spreading the faith through persuasion and kindness. Arnold presents Islam not only as a religion but as a mission to share its values worldwide. He also acknowledges the challenges in documenting the full scope of this history, aiming for future editions to provide a more complete picture. The narrative sets the stage for an in-depth study of how Islam's propagation shaped its global community, underlining the significant spiritual and social aspects involved. Through this work, the author seeks to enhance understanding of the Islamic faith's development and its outreach efforts across cultures and time.
