PRAYERS AND DEVOTIONS is arranged to offer the modern reader a chance of getting to know and entering into the broad and ample thought of the Supreme Pontiff, John Paul II, day by day, in calm reflection. One entry for each day, the meditations reflect the pontiff's thoughts on a vast series of mysteries, events, celebrations and commemorations through the 365 days of the liturgical cycle. He also reflects on the church, on mankind, the family, work and holidays. His personal concerns are expressed in such topics as "Sharing with Others", "Consumer Society" and "The Great Divine Trial", about the meaning of his near-assassination. There is also a section providing meditations for the moveable Feasts of the Church's calender.

The Prayers and Devotions of Pope John Paul II are edited by Peter Cansius Johannes Van Lierde, Vicar General of His Holiness.
