In all the arts a war is being waged between modernists and postmodernists. Radicals have tended to side with the modernists against the forces of conservatism. Hal Foster is the Townsend Martin, Class of 1917 Professor of Art and Archaeology at Princeton University. He is an internationally renowned author of books on post-modernism in art.
