Paul Tipler began his teaching career at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, USA then moved to Oakland University in Michigan, USA as one of the original members of its physics department, playing a major role in developing the physics curriculum. At one time or another over the course of his career, he has taught nearly all of the physics courses. In addition to Physics for Scientists and Engineers, he is also the author of the widely used texts Modern Physics and College Physics. Gene Mosca has taught a variety of students in the calculus based course at Emporia (KS) State, USA for two years, the University of South Dakota, USA for nine years and at Annapolis for twelve years. He recently retired from his teaching position at the U.S. Naval Academy, where, as coordinator of the core physics course, he instituted numerous enhancements to both the laboratory and classroom. Proclaimed by Paul Tipler as 'the best reviewer I ever had,' Mosca became co-author beginning with the fifth edition of this book.
