Inhaltsangabe:

Featuring the beloved Peter Cottontail, this irresistible and colorful potpourri of Easter fun and lore offers simple explanations of common Easter symbols, traditions. recipes, and activities. American Bookseller Pick of the Lists.

From School Library Journal:

Kindergarten-Grade 2-- A collection of holiday facts and fancies without any specific cultural orientation, resulting in a confusing hodgepodge book--part game, part story, and part craft. Peter Cottontail leads readers through pages, accompanied by the nursery song "Itisket, Itasket," and his own commentary. Interspersed are sections on crafts and customs, both religious and secular. Although lovingly illustrated with sweetly pastel-hued pictures of rabbits, eggs, and other symbols, the uneven text never engages readers or provides them with more than a cursory introduction. Delacre's acknowledged sources are three standards on Easter lore, only one of which is still in print, yet this new presentation lacks added value or freshness. Further, the edited directions for egg decorating are less clear than the original, listed in one of the sources. Unfortunately, while the charming pictures and simple text will appeal to a young audience, the references are fairly mature. Better purchases are Edna Barth's Lilies, Rabbits, and Painted Eggs: The Story of the Easter Symbols (Houghton, 1979) for more detailed descriptions of Easter symbols, Gail Gibbons's Easter (Holiday, 1989) for a straightforward explanation with loads of child appeal, or Rosemary Wells's Max's Chocolate Chicken (Dial, 1989) for sheer delight. --Dorothy Houlihan, White Plains Public Library, NY
