Andrew Gerle is a multifaceted theater creator, pianist, musical director, author, and educator. He has served as conductor and accompanist for some of Broadway’s biggest names, and he has been heard in numerous Broadway pits and on concert tours in the U.S. and abroad. He is the recipient of the Jonathan Larson Grant, the Kleban Prize, and four Richard Rodgers awards for his musicals, which include Meet John Doe, Prospera (with Broadway legend Tom Jones), Whisper Darkly, and The Tutor. One of the most respected theater educators in the country, he has served on the faculties of Yale University and the Manhattan School of Music, and he is the author of two popular books for musical theater actors: The Enraged Accompanist’s Guide to the Perfect Audition and Music Essentials for Singers and Actors.
Joseph Zellnik is best known as the composer of the off-Broadway hit Yank! (written with his brother, David Zellnik), which received seven Drama Desk nominations, including for Best Musical and Best Score, and Best Musical nominations from the Outer Critics Circle and the Lucille Lortel Foundation. The show has since gone on to productions across the U.S. and around the world, including in Rio de Janeiro, where it won the 2017 CENYM award for Best Musical. His other musicals, also with David Zellnik, include First in Flight: The Wright Brothers, which toured the country for TheaterWorksUSA, and City of Dreams, presented in New York and at the first International Festival of Music Theatre in Cardiff. Joseph has also published The Sound of Murder: Musicals Are Murder #1, the first in a new Broadway-themed mystery series, and The Vaudeville Murders, which he coauthored with Miriam Zellnik.
