THE PAST REMAINS
A Merano & Bell Novel
Do we ever really know our parents?

Events take a devastating turn when Dr. Elise Bell joins three friends for what should be a relaxing weekend in Flagstaff. Police are called after one woman disappears and thieves target the home where the women are staying. Kelli, the home owner, learns her father, a disgraced former judge who died in prison the month before, may have put them in danger. She hires Matt Merano, Elise’s PI husband, for protection and help in finding the truth. Matt discovers a link between the recent kidnapping and the cold case of a local woman missing for over a decade. While Matt scrambles to unravel the two cases, the lives of Elise and their young daughter are threatened. Faced with treachery, identity theft and murder, Matt struggles to uncover secrets buried in Kelli’s parents’ past, while also keeping the people close to him safe.
