Inhaltsangabe:

In this book Richard Holloway explores a number of important themes. He explores the experience of loss and regret and tries to discover the meaning of suffering as disclosed in the death of Christ. He takes an honest look at the difficult situation created for Christians by the sexual revolution, and seeks a way forward that is both compassionate and faithful to the Christian tradition. In the third part of the book he discusses the nature of Christ and the work of the Church. In all these areas he tries to face the paradoxes that confront Christians as they seek to be faithful to Christ and to the reality of their own human experience. The result is a compassionate and thoughtful book which will help men and women in their own explorations into the meaning of life. Richard Holloway, former Rector of the Church of the Advent, Boston, was prior to that Rector of Old St Paul's Edinburgh, and is now Vicar of St Mary Magdalen, Oxford. He is author of several books, including The Killing (the winner of the 1984 Winifred Mary Stanford Prize), A New Heaven and Beyond Belief, and editor of The Anglican Tradition.

Anbieterinformationen

BookLovers of Bath is based in the rural idyll of Peasedown St. John in Somerset (God's Own Country) in the south west of England and actually very nearly in Bath. After 20 years of being “internet only” I have now opened a shop, Fact or Fable, in the premises of our now-closed Post Office. With over 20,000 books in stock and another 5,000 or so in the shop I run an old-fashioned book business with every book listed, graded, picked, packed and posted by my own fair hand… abetted by my Jack Russells who are really, not, helpful.
