The aim of this book is provide a guide to the PC and its clones, covering the range that has been produced so far, and at the possibilities that the new 80486 chip, OS/2, and MCA will introduce. The book is principally concerned with desktop machines but the information also covers portable and laptop machines. Several chapters of the book are devoted to PC software. Some programs, such as spreadsheets, follow an almost standard pattern, but where very different approaches exist the differences are explained and illustrated.
