In 1941, the Swedish photographer and industrialist Victor Hasselblad (1906-1978) founded a camera factory in Göteborg, Sweden where he developed the Hasselblad Camera System. Victor Hasselblad and his wife, Erna, donated their entire fortune for the creation of a foundation for the promotion of research and education in the natural sciences and photography. The Erna and Victor Hasselblad Foundation was established in 1979.
