A forgotten past. A face on a screen. A journey that will unravel everything she knows.

Julia’s life is ordinary, safe, and defined by her roles as a wife and mother. But after a traumatic accident, her memory is a fractured puzzle, and her nights are haunted by a face from a daytime talk show—a woman named Debbie, her partner Andy, and a violent, inexplicable rage.

Driven by a compulsion she doesn’t understand, Julia invents a pretext to travel north, leaving her family behind to seek the truth. Reconnecting with an old school friend, she is plunged into a world that challenges her deepest assumptions about love, friendship, and identity.

But her real quest lies in the decaying town of Burnsley, on a rain-soaked council estate where a young man named Jason Doyle met a violent end. As Julia digs into the secrets of his death, she is drawn deeper into a mystery that is intimately connected to her own fragmented past. The closer she gets to the truth, the more she is forced to question: is she an observer, or is she a part of the story she’s trying to uncover?

A gripping psychological mystery, Somebody I Once Knew explores the shadows of memory, the enduring pain of loss, and the shocking connections that can bind strangers together across time.
