Work has never been so entertaining! With just under 60 hilarious poems on office and work related humor with maniacal hand-drawn illustrations, this compilation pokes fun at the people, machinery, situations, and struggles that create stress and anxiety in literally billions of working class adults around the globe. The topics are universal and the themes are completely relative to todays high-tech, fast-paced work environment. These poems and drawings are extremely funny, witty, and a great stress reliever for anyone who has ever worked in an office. From hunting for a parking space, going to the restroom, taking a smoke break, slaving away in a cramped cube farm, or pilfering the storage cabinet, these gut-busting poems and drawings cover a wide spectrum of topics from the mundane to the outlandish.Based on the first hand observations of someone who has worked at Fortune 500 Companies for over the past 10 years these poems weave humor and insight to tell stories of the frustrations and challenges of working in an office and also provide a cathartic release from stress and anxiety through the laughter they elicit. Characters such as the Brownnoser, the Scavenger, the Facilitator, the CEO and many more are portrayed with sarcastic insights, zany parodies, and quirky embellishments. Make no mistake the underlying message is actually quite positive and leaves the reader convinced of how attitudes can affect perceptions. Taking notice of the seemingly ordinary objects and situations and twisting them into hilarious rhymes can make even the most disgruntled employee laugh out loud when reading these poems and turn the daily drudgery into a comedic exploitation in satire. When work gets to be too much and frustration is mounting, read these poems and escape from the daily grind of the corporate rat race to a whimsical world where no one is normal or safe from the probing eye of this hard-working, sarcastic, lyrical poet. So come experience a work related rhyme, drift off and be at bliss, while still on company time, Office Poetry will put a smile on your face, Office Poetry is candy for your brains. 1st printing September 2007. 1st copyright 2005, updated 2007, Light Underground Publishing.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Robert Petta has worked in customer service and sales at several Fortune 500 Companies for over the past ten years. He studied poetry and literature at the University of Texas in Austin where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication. When he began writing these poems he initially intended to provide some stress relieving humor to his fellow employees at work. After writing over twenty of them and receiving an overwhelmingly positive response from his friends and co-workers, he decided to pursue his goal of writing enough for a full length book and having them illustrated and published in a collection that could be available to the billions of office workers around the globe that he felt shared in the same frustrations as he experienced at work. After selecting Mark Sean Wilson, a talented illustrator and video editor, to draw the images in his mind and add some humor from Wilsons own creative talent, the poems took on the added dimension of visual parodies and zany caricatures further enhancing the overall humor of the work. Based on the book Office Poetry, Petta created a live multi-media performance entitled Office Poetry Live! in which he recites selected poems and plays music videos containing original songs he wrote and video he recorded which add further entertainment to the creative portfolio of office related humor within Office Poetry. Office Poetry Live! is performed for the public and available for private speaking engagements. Petta currently resides in Austin, TX with his wife and teenage daughter as is now writing full time. He is currently working on several other books including fiction and non fiction comedies and dramas, true personal short stories and others, one of which includes Office Poetry 2.0. Petta cites Shel Silverstein as one of his strongest influences and has stated that Office Poetry is like Where the Sidewalk Ends for working adults.
