Number Theory and Geometry : An Introduction to Arithmetic Geometry

Taking a slightly different approach to number theory than more traditional textbooks, Lozano-Robledo emphasizes the interaction of number theory with geometry. His goal is to use geometry as the motivation to prove the main theorems in the book. He covers integers, polynomials, lines, and congruences; quadratic congruences and quadratic equations; and cubic equations and elliptic curves. Among specific topics are the prime numbers, congruences, primitive roots, the Hasse-Minkowski theorem, continued fractions, and hyperbolas and Pell's equation.
