Some of the Notes on passing events, from which this Volume is compiled, have already appeared in print at Colombo but as they extend over a period in the history of Ceylon, during which important changes in its system of government have been on trial, their re-appearance, with several others printed for gratuitous circulation in the Island, may not be unaccept able to the inhabitants, although not of sufficient interest for publication. Worcester, 1862.

Note - Some repetitions in the first Papers may be objected to but, as the Governors of Ceylon were so frequently changed, they were unavoidable.
