Volume 3 of the Nimitz Graybook documents the first half of 1943, when American forces consolidated their hold on Guadalcanal and began planning the Central Pacific offensive. This facsimile edition preserves Admiral Nimitz's command summary during Operation Cartwheel and the New Georgia Campaign. The documents reveal the strategic debates and operational planning that would shape the island-hopping campaign across the Pacific. From Collection 505, Papers of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, USN, Naval History and Heritage Command Archives. Contains 370 pages of primary source documentation.
