Eirwen has always been the sun, too bright and burning for her little Welsh village, and Mari Morgan her shadow: quiet, well-behaved and in love with nothing but music.

On the brink of starting university, the two friends throw off all that defines them to attend the 1970 Isle of Wight music festival. There, Mari meets the charismatic lead singer of an established rock band and is catapulted into another world when he’s as captivated by her piano playing as she is by him.

It’s a dream come true until Eirwen erupts back into Mari’s new life, mayhem hot on her heels, a beautiful spark ready to burn everything down.

Perfect for fans of Daisy Jones and the Six and Songs in Ursa Major, Nicely Out of Tune explores life on the road with an ageing rock band: the egos, the fights, the drink and drug issues, and an often intimidating mixed bag of female followers. Do Mari and Eirwen have what it takes to weather life in the fast lane? Nicely Out of Tune charts the girls’ rocking, rolling and emotional ride to an unexpected truth.

Julia Florrie is a retired teacher. She loves being outdoors, with gardening, walking, swimming and, until quite recently, skiing taking up much of her time. She also enjoys reading, cooking and music, and with a kitchen large to accommodate dancing she's able to enjoy the latter two simultaneously. As a keen needlewoman, she is currently upcycling rarely worn items so as to "make do and mend" as her mother and grandmother did before her. She also likes flower arranging, and has created bouquets and arrangements for three family weddings and floral tributes for two funerals. Eight years ago she became a grandmother, an ongoing riot as far as she's concerned... they make her laugh so much! And of course she loves to write, and despite time running short, it's a hard habit to kick.
