Library Journal "Here Newport seeks to put the New Age movement into its proper historical context in order to build a foundation for interpreting its worldview and theology. . . This comprehensive and careful examination will enable the reader to understand both the historical context and the integrality of what is New Age and what is Biblical. Recommended for all public libraries because of the timeliness of the subject." Calvin Theological Journal "Based on a religiously sensitive and theologically intelligent reading of a wide range of primary and secondary sources, the author sets forth a clear and readable account of the New Age movement within the broader context of the multitude of new spiritualities that have emerged during the last decades." Reformed Review "A wealth of information is to be found here about the varied groups and individuals associated with the New Age outlook. The author not only shows his knowledge of the secondary sources, but also reveals a personal aquaintance with many of the New Age organizations."

John Newport delivers a comprehensive study of the impact of New Age beliefs on contemporary culture - and on Christianity itself - while also offering an effective, biblical antidote to today's worldview crisis. After first surveying the historical development of the New Age worldview, from ancient times through important tendencies in nineteenth-century America to recent Far Eastern influences, Newport explores in depth eleven key areas of the New Age worldview and contrasts each area of belief with the traditional biblical worldview.
