160 pages including index. Small amount of writing on half title page. Average wear to covers and page corners. A bird book like no other. Concentrating on behaviour rather than species identification, the book delves into why birds act the way they do. It will raise the pleasure of birding to new heights. Starting with scenes as common as a swampy rookery of blue herons or the antics of a nesting nuthatch, the author adds new meaning to the everyday experiences of birders around the world. Learn that: blue herons live in colonies so that members can follow the colony's most successful hunters on forays rather than risk failure on solo expeditions.; female tree swallows commit mass murder against neighbouring offspring and females during nesting season; songbirds adjust their music to suit the eacoustical characteristics of the surrounding terrain, and much more.
