Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

Fine, still sealed in intact shrink-wrap. The wrapping remains complete with no rips, tears, or openings observed. Minor normal gathering and wrinkling of the shrink-wrap is visible along portions of the edges and corners from the original sealing process. Tan and cream cloth-covered boards and stamped lettering remain clean and attractive beneath the wrap. Because the book remains sealed, the interior has not been opened or examined; no representations are therefore made regarding unseen internal characteristics beyond the externally observable condition. An unusually well-preserved unopened example of the 1998 Liberty Fund hardcover edition. Heinrich A. Rommen’s important study of natural-law jurisprudence examines the historical development and philosophical foundations of natural law from the classical world through medieval scholasticism and into modern political and legal thought. Originally published in German in 1936 and first translated into English in the twentieth century, Rommen’s work contrasts the traditional natural-law tradition associated with thinkers including Cicero and Thomas Aquinas with later theories of natural rights and political authority associated with Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau. The Liberty Fund edition includes Thomas R. Hanley’s translation and an introduction by legal and political philosopher Russell Hittinger. The volume remains particularly relevant to collectors and researchers in jurisprudence, constitutional thought, political philosophy, Catholic intellectual history, natural-rights theory, and the history of legal positivism. A desirable sealed hardcover example of a title considerably scarcer in this format than the readily available paperback edition. Seller's Note Offered for collectible, historical, bibliographic, and research purposes only.
