Chapter One

THE MEANING OF AGE

You reached 60 or over: you are considered a Senior, SO WHAT! At age 55 we are called seniors. In many countries , including the United States of America , we see it everywhere we go that our society puts "AGE" limits on all kinds of trades, fashion, in the media, and many more situations in our daily lives; putting the young and sexy in front while stressing that young AGE is in! We should all comment with an AH AH-- SO WHAT!!

Are you ready to be called a Senior? Or does it bother you to be reminded of your chronicle age; we are talking about that Special Number. That is why we have to learn to understand that there is no AGE-LIMIT in our existence! "Number" of age is a year or month, hour or minute, that we have created in our time calculation; however, our universe is timeless! We are living in an every second situation so you can tell yourself "this second I will get older", or you have a choice to say: "I am getting more advanced in my experience during a wonderful journey on this beautiful earth, and cosmic adventure, every second of my life"; at the moment you are saying this, you are not feeling the clock ticking or getting older in the sense of a time frame. In fact, you are not getting older, but wiser; in other words, you are not counting age in our time frame!

To find the right way to think that you are not limited to a certain age, is a great start to learn that everyone can go on this journey to stop that non-sense which society has put on the aging community: the idea and stamp they call "AGE-LIMIT". Our society has come a long way to disgrace the older people and put them in a box with the sign on it "OLD-AGE-beings"! It is time to turn the clock around and let the world know what the so called age-limit seniors are capable of: such as their ability to produce and fulfill many good and productive ideas and helpful thoughts to our society for the benefit of those who want to listen and give Seniors a chance.

Becoming an older Person means, in reality, a more knowledgeable person who had to learn the hard way just as the young people have to travel that road to become seniors of the future .

Lets talk about the word "AGE"; lets use the word "AGE-LESS". Nothing would become of value if it would remain in one condition, having no real growth, never to be known or become an aged treasure. By the way, would you want to live forever without any changes or new conditions? Think about it! Our bodies will become more brittle, and decline with added years; that does not mean that everything is in a declining state. It aught to mean that we should accept it without resisting whatever comes our way and that it can lead us to greater maturity, understanding, growing mentally and spiritual; to become happy and thankful, and to have the opportunity to be a conscious part of this great universe.

We older people are the survivors who where able to avoid falling off reckless cliffs at our youth-time and where able to grow lines and gray hair including wrinkles to show living signs of gracefully dealing with the world we live in, at this time, when only youth, sexy, so called pretty faces, and skinny bodies, dominate in our society. Lets list just a few items which are of great value as they AGE!

1) Take the foods: Whiskey, Wine, Cheese, Beef, and other Smoked Meats.

2) Trees, many plants, teas, perfumes and many more such items.

3) Antiques, Instruments; especially Violins.

No one would buy Whiskey that was distilled a few days or a month ago; you could not drink it if it was not aged. This includes almost all liquors or wines that where just harvested such as grapes. A long and complicated combination of slow oxidation and enzymatic reactions to transfer the raw grapes into a good wine is necessary. Some bottles having been stored for many years and with every year the wine becomes more valuable; so many bottles are sold for thousands of Dollars.

Most cheeses taste only good after they age for some time: take the original Swiss-cheese with the big holes in it, it is stored and turned many times before it becomes tasty and ripe. Most costly and good tasting name brands have a long aging time behind them and they also cost the most. That should tell us that aged things are not only good but more tasty and costly; the same goes for salami - beef and other meats.

When we study a tree we count all the rings starting at the root to tell its age. The beauty and abundance of leaves fascinates us as we look at a young tree knowing that some time has to pass before that tree has reached the standard of their older companions and we consider it to be a nice beautiful tree, with shady branches full of big green leaves. That should tell us how important it is to add years to our lives.

Just image becoming famous at the age of " 82"! I am talking about an actress: most of as have forgotten that her name was Adeline De Walt Reynolds. At the age of 65 she graduated from the University of California; a short time later she was discovered by Hollywood and became known by the name "Grandma Reynolds". She did not fear an age limit but she complained to a Dr.: "I have to get rid of my jelly belly!".

She learned a yoga exercise called the belly lift; after 4 months, her jelly belly was gone. She got a nice part in the movie called "Going my Way" with Bing Crosby and at age 96 she was still performing on TV.

During an interview she was asked: "what is your secret to having such a long and good life ?" She did not know what to answer and said just a few words in a shy way: "I guess I was always happy".
