MYTH KIDS
School of the Strange – Book One: The First Detention

What if detention wasn’t a punishment… but a warning?

When Mia Harper arrives at Myth Kids: School of the Strange, she expects the usual first-day problems: awkward introductions, confusing schedules, and getting completely lost in the endless corridors of her strange new school.

She does not expect:

• Luna Howl, a fiercely loyal werewolf who has sworn to protect her friends.
• Willow the Goblin Wizard, a brilliant spell-caster with a love of dangerous potions.
• Pip the Cyclops, a genius inventor whose strange machines rarely behave the way he plans.
• Ruby Tee, an adventurous mermaid who knows more about the school’s hidden secrets than she admits.
• Ash Spark, a young dragon with a fiery personality and a habit of breathing flames when excited.
• Vlad, a quiet and thoughtful young vampire who prefers ancient books to frightening anyone.

And Mia definitely doesn’t expect to be sent to detention before her first lesson even begins.

But detention at Myth Kids School of the Strange isn’t held in a classroom.

It’s underground.

Deep beneath the ancient stone corridors and glowing runes lies a hidden chamber no one talks about — a place older than the school itself.

A place where something is waking.

Something that watches.

Something that judges.

When the stone floor suddenly cracks open and a creature made of shadow and ancient rock rises from the darkness, Mia discovers something even more unbelievable.

The school is alive.

And somehow…

It has chosen her.

Because Mia Harper isn’t just an ordinary human student.

She can see spirits — echoes of the past that drift silently through the halls of the school.

As mysterious doors marked UNASSIGNED begin to unlock, strange symbols glow across the walls, and bells ring when no one has touched them, Mia and her unusual new friends must uncover the secret hidden beneath their school.

And when Professor Orion Nightwind begins to suspect that the ancient magic below the school is stirring once again, Mia realises detention may not have been an accident at all.

Because detention isn’t just a punishment.

It’s a test.

And failing it could mean far more than staying after class.

It could mean the ancient magic protecting the school will disappear forever.
