A crash in the woods. A brave young girl. A visitor with a nose that glows...purple?

On a quiet farm on Christmas Eve, a young girl curls up by the fire with a good book—until a loud crash outside shatters the stillness. With an axe in hand and her faithful woodland animals by her side, she steps into the cold night to face whatever might be lurking in the shadows.

What she finds is not what she expected: a mysterious creature with a glowing purple nose and a story of his own. Is he friend or foe? Lost or hiding? Hungry or just scared?

Told in lyrical rhyme and brought to life with warm, whimsical illustrations, A Mysterious Christmas Visitor is a lightly humorous, heartwarming tale of bravery, empathy, and the magic of unexpected friendship.

Perfect for children ages 2–8, this gentle holiday story invites young readers to imagine a world where kindness leads the way—even when noses glow purple.

Includes four pages of reindeer facts in the back—ideal for curious kids, teachers, and anyone who’s ever wondered what makes Santa’s sleigh team so special.

A Mysterious Christmas Visitor is the fourth children's book by Barbara Leary, an award-winning children's book author, writer and poet whose work has been featured in anthologies, newspapers, magazines, and on public radio. She is currently at work on a young adult novel.
