Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: Don Ian Smith, pastor of the Methodist Church for 43 years, and a circuit rider through the mountain where he first heard of The Murder in 1944. His knowledge of the time and place shine forth in this collaborative work. Smith's previous published works include 5 inspirational books, and a biography: Symon's Daughter: the Memoir of Elizabeth Symon Smith. Naida West, neice of Don Ian, holds a Ph.D from University of CA, Davis. She taught sociology and worked as a consultant on environmental affairs. In 1990 she quit her other work to become a full time writer. Her 2 award-winning history novels River of Red Gold and Eye of the Bear are acclaimed for their careful use of history and their emotional impact. She brings this story to the level of fine literature. She is at work on the 3rd novel in her California trilogy.
