A Christian Parable teaching children about the LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS.
In this, the third in the Mouse in the Hammock series, our little mouse decides to join in the Trick-or-Treating fun!
But what will he wear?
Mouse searches high and low for the perfect costume, but the night is dark, and everything in his house seems so scary! He imagines snakes, spiders, and fire-breathing dragons —AAAAAAAAH!
Will Mouse find the perfect disguise? Or be too scared for trick-or-treating this year?
Search along with Mouse and discover how LIGHT always overcomes the darkness!
In this funny and heartwarming story, Mouse is teaching, through a parable, about how when you shine God’s light, even in the darkest and scariest times, you will find things aren’t as scary as they seem.
BOOK EXCERPT:
I have to find a costume!
So, I scuttle around the house, looking for something to wear.
Will I be a fierce pirate? Or perhaps a dinosaur? Or maybe a firefighter or
brave soldier.
But, no matter how hard I search, I can’t seem to
find the perfect costume.
I look left, I look right, I look up, I look down, then
suddenly…
“AAAAAAAAAAAH!”
“A ghost!” I cry. “A ghastly,
ghostly, ghost!”
I wobble, I shake, and I run
round and round.
“OH, HELP! OH, HELP!”
Then, ‘Click!’ goes the light.
“An old sock?!” I say, and I give a big smile,
grateful for the LIGHT that makes everything
better.
In the spirit of spreading God’s light in the darkness, a portion of the proceeds from all Mouse in the Hammock books and Christmas ornaments are donated to children in need.
Over $10,000 USD donated so far to Maison des Enfant de Dieu (House of the Children of the Lord), an orphanage in Haiti.

Little Mouse’s Mission
Did you know that you are the LIGHT in the world?
The Bible teaches us that Jesus is the LIGHT – and that because of Him, we too can shine our light for others to see His goodness and glory.
How does someone as little as a mouse, or as little as a child, shine God’s light? Well, sometimes with batteries!!!
At Maison des Enfant de Dieu (The House of the Children of the Lord), an orphanage in Haiti that is home to 60 children, YOU have provided much-needed batteries to hold the power from the solar panels. With this power, they have the electricity needed for lights and fans in each of the dormitories and every classroom.
Just like the mouse in our story, your light may be small, but it can light up a whole room - and even a whole orphanage!
The Mouse in the Hammock, a Halloween Tale is the third book in the series. Each book from the series teaches a Christian lesson based on biblical principles. The Author, Bethany Brevard, isn’t a theologian or a biblical expert. She’s just a mom who felt like the holiness of the holidays was slowly being stripped away and if a little mouse could help to bring Christ back into Christmas, then surely, she could bring Christ back into Easter (forgiveness) and even the not so holy holidays of Valentine’s (love), Thanksgiving (gratitude) and even Halloween (light in the darkness)!
The Mouse in the Hammock, a Halloween Tale pairs nicely with other fall books, such as Little Blue Truck's Halloween, Peppa's Halloween Party, Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch, Big Pumpkin, The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, The Berenstain Bears and the Prize Pumpkin, It's Pumpkin Time Little Farm,
Kids ages: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9
