"Minutes of the Albany Committee of Correspondence 1775-1778" offers an exhaustive primary source record of the administrative and political functions in upstate New York during the American Revolution. This volume documents the internal proceedings of a crucial local revolutionary body as it transitioned from colonial oversight to independent local governance. The records provide detailed accounts of the committee's efforts to coordinate local defense, monitor loyalist activity, and maintain communication with the Continental Congress and various provincial authorities.

Researchers and history enthusiasts will discover significant insights into the logistical challenges of the Revolutionary War and the management of civilian affairs in a strategically vital region. The meeting minutes illustrate the grassroots decision-making processes that sustained the patriot cause in Albany and its environs. By preserving these day-to-day administrative actions, the work serves as an essential resource for those studying the evolution of American political institutions and the complex social dynamics of the late eighteenth century. This collection remains a foundational text for understanding the localized reality of the struggle for American independence.
