Patrick was photographed in a Manhattan studio complex large enough to house multiple shoots at the same time.

Just after arriving, Patrick asked directions to the john. "Turn left, make the first right."

Fifteen minutes went by. Twenty minutes. Where was Patrick? Should we send out a search party? How do you lose a seven-foot legend?

Patrick returned grinning ear to ear. "You guys set me up."

When he left the studio Patrick made his first right, not left. He landed in another studio, packed with kids. Pandemonium. Imagine your kid looking up and seeing Patrick Ewing. He spent the twenty minutes or so shaking hands and signing autographs.

It didn't stop there. Once we started shooting Patrick with his milk mustache every kid that walked by would wave to him. He kindly waved back.

Finally we had to lock the door.

Patrick had one regret. Tyra Banks was to be photographed next and he wanted to meet her. Unfortunately, her plane was late and he never got his chance.
