Inhaltsangabe:

Widow Catherine Rose Hill had vowed she would never again answer to a man. But when a stuffy hardheaded banker with sexy eyes challenged her hard-won independence with soul-binding kisses, she wondered if her freedom was worth the price....

Gregory Michael Mayfield III's obsession with making a name for himself had cost him his health and his happiness. And his forced exile at Catherine's country farmhouse was supposed to bring him peace and privacy—not passion in the arms of the fiesty widow....

Review:

Gregory Mayfield is a gentleman in every way. He knows how to handle money and charm society's finest women. But illness brings him to Hillsboro in the New Mexico Territory and Greg runs into the kind of situation he doesn't know how to handle-- a beautiful widow with a mind of her own. Thanks to his sister's manipulations, Greg is left to his own devices in Hillsboro. He doesn't have the service of his valet, doesn't have a clue about the every day running of a house, and definitely doesn't have a notion how to deal with a widow or her cantankerous cat and vicious chicken. Funny thing is, it's not long before Greg doesn't mind his predicament one bit. Catherine Rose Hill agreed to take in her friend Suzanne's brother, but she had no idea what she was getting into. Greg is completely hopeless when it comes to basic domestic chores such as starting a fire or pumping water. He's a wealthy businessman who is used to buying anything he wants-- but she's determined he won't buy her affections. Catherine was married once, and at her husband's death vowed she would never let another man control her fate. The longer she knows Greg the more she realizes he's nothing like her first husband. But can Catherine love Greg without losing her hard won independence? The Merry Widows trilogy continues with Book II, Catherine. This fun romp is Theresa Michaels at her best. Catherine and Greg are a charming couple who bring out the best (and worst) in each other. Lord Romeo (the cat) and Miss Lily (the hen) provide wonderful doses of comic relief! Fans will not be disappointed with Ms. Michaels latest offering. This reviewer can't wait to read Sarah's story! From start to finish, Theresa Michaels is a delight to read! She creates the most wonderful characters and makes us care about them! "Humor and love are a satisfying blend in this sweet story! Romantic and funny-- a definite keeper! Once again, Theresa Michaels delivers a winner! She has outdone herself with The Merry Widows trilogy! Kristina Wright -- Copyright © 1998 Literary Times, Inc.
