Karl Koch III’s career spans more than forty-five years, including twenty years with the Karl Koch Erecting Company, where he became an owner and an officer. He is the author of a study on the state of bridges in America and works as a consultant on a wide variety of steel-erection projects. He is the father of five grown children and lives with his wife in Long Island, New York.
Richard Firstman is an award-winning journalist and author. He is the coauthor, with Jamie Talan, of The Death of Innocents, which won a 1998 Edgar Award and was a New York Times notable Book of the Year. A former reporter-at-large and editor at Newsday, his work as a producer has appeared on 60 Minutes. He lives in Northport, New York, with his wife and their three children.
