A school shooting, a twin, and the search for resolution; when Maggie’s brother takes a gun to his head, leaving forty-six of their classmates dead, the girl their mother called “her little Turing” determines to understand why. Is AI the answer? This, “quiet, personal revolution happening every second of every day within the confines of the human brain,” seems to hold the key, but when Maggie’s longing for peace causes her to break the rules, she discovers that boundaries are there for a reason. An emotional thrill-ride through the intersection of technology and human consciousness, THE MEMORY OF MY SHADOW asks how far we will go to get the answers we need to heal. "Wakeman asks the big questions by focusing on the emotions which drive us; grief, loss and the search for healing are put up against the boundaries which keep us safe from each other. Heart and mind are stitched together and torn apart in this tale of dystopian reach. Prepare to have both opened. A perfect novel for our times." - Eleanor Anstruther, author of "A Perfect Explanation"
