St. Mary's Seminary of St. Sulpice (now St. Mary's Seminary and University) is a Roman Catholic seminary founded in 1791 by the Society of Saint Sulpice, making it the oldest Catholic seminary in the United States. The Sulpicians, fleeing the French Revolution, sailed from France to Baltimore in 1791. Founded shortly after the American Revolution, it has been run since its founding by the the priests of Saint Sulpice. It relocated to Roland Park, Baltimore, Maryland, in 1929. Very good in brick red cloth boards with gilt title to spine and front cover. Wear to edges of boards, spine ends, hinges, and corners. Cloth along front hinge has been repaired; although, a split is still visible. Includes many photographic illustrations. Slight browning to edges of some pages and smudge marks to some pages. Several cracks to binding, but pages remain bound. 164 pages. MD/070816.
