Inhaltsangabe
Excerpt from Memoirs of the Bastille: Containing a Full Exposition of the Mysterious Policy and Despotic Oppression of the French Government, in the Interior Administration of That State-Prison
This had been preceded by a printed Letter to the Count ale Vergennes, one of the Frenc/t Ministers, with whom he had most cause to be dissatisfied. This letter has been considered by the critics as a striking monument of energy, eloquence, and candour. It was of such a nature a to leave a deep and lasting impres sion on the mind; and it was sufliciently evident that it has not failed of this effect.
