Jim and Teresa have been married since 1985. They are the parents of four adult children- Elizabeth, Jeremy, the twins- Madison and Jimmie Jim was born in Little Rock, AR adopted when he was 2 weeks old, and grew up in Dorsey, MS. He is a graduate of Delta State University, (where he was a member of the Associated Press All American Team, selected to Who’s Who Among American College Students, and later inducted into the Delta State University Sports Hall of Fame) with a B.A. in Marketing, a Certified Christian Financial Counselor and a Smalley Certified Marriage Intensive Coach. Teresa was born in Tupelo, MS, (birthplace of Elvis), she is a graduate of Mississippi University for Women- B.S. in Food and Nutrition and after many years as a stay at home mom, a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary- Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. The Adams’ launched the largest African American owned residential real estate investment firm in the Southeast, employing over 20 employees, Jim founded and served as president of the Mississippi Real Estate Investors Association and together they have bought and sold hundreds of houses and personally owned over 100 rental properties. In addition to their successes, they have experienced some tremendous failures, including having vehicles repossessed, losing their personal home in foreclosure, filing bankruptcy, almost homeless, and at one point Jim had to pawn his wedding band to buy groceries for the family. Even in the face of financial ruin they remained relationship rich. They teach and share from their professional training, practical application, and personal experiences.
