Making Room for His Presence: 21-Day Community Devotional

If we are to pursue the manifest presence and power of God in our communities and see the needed cultural shifts in our cities, we must prepare ourselves corporately as the Church. It always starts with personal repentance. But, then these principles must be applied corporately. We need to assess our collective condition and clear out anything that might be hindering the Spirit’s work as a community of faith. As we do this, our covenant relationship with Him and with each other is strengthened and the way is prepared for a greater measure of His tangible presence in our midst. This 21-Day Community Devotional guide takes believers through a corporate experience of consecration in order to strengthen our covenant with the Lord and one another focusing on areas of humility, holiness, and unity. It is formatted to use both as individual households and as a corporate Body. It is also recommended to do some kind of fast during this 21-Day experience. Whether it is fasting from food, social media, or some other time-consuming habit, the purpose is to sacrifice something in our lives that will open up more time in His presence. Though this devotional can be used by just one congregation at a time, the ultimate goal is for several churches within a community to go through this together. It will take more than one congregation or leader to bring the city together and relationships between fellowships need to be nurtured if we are to have any corporate authority in our cities. Participants can go through the devotional as individual families in the morning and then meet together as the corporate church every evening for prayer. This will be a tangible way to seek the Lord together and light a fire on the corporate altar of prayer. It is a reminder that we were created to fulfill our mandate together and that our corporate agreement has great power in the spirit.It is through our confessions of repentance, declarations of truth, and acts of obedience that we become “... a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that (we) may declare the praises of Him who called (us) out of darkness into His wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9).
